COVID-19 Is Stressful For Your Pets Too: Here’s How to Relieve Their Stress in 3 Simple Ways

The havoc wreaked by coronavirus is getting worse day by day. To date, nearly many confirmed corona cases have been reported on a worldwide scale. Though, as a security measure, a number of countries have declared a complete lockdown, it cannot be denied that 100% lockdown or the present quarantine life is bringing a lot of stress to all of us.

But, do you know there is one more member in your family (or probably more) who is as stressed out as you amid the COVID-19 outbreak? No, that’s not your father, mother or your partner; that’s your pet.

According to several studies and veterinary doctors, pets (both dogs and cats) can sense subliminal messages, and therefore, when your pets see you worried, they too get worried and stressed for you. If you are struggling with the new quarantine life by working-from-home, chances are that you may be neglecting your pets (unconsciously, of course) and increasing the pets’ anxiety level. So, it’s time to work on it.

Stress is not a solution to anything. Utilize this time to express your love and care to the ones you love and your pets are no different.

Listed below are some of the easiest ways using which you can let your pets know that they are important for you and relieve them of the stress.

  1. Work On Your Pet’s Mental Stimulation

Mental stimulation is very important for your pet, irrespective of its age. Lack of mental stimulation leads to the development of unusual behaviours in pets, for example, dogs develop the habit of excessive barking, chewing things, digging holes, etc. So, you need to ensure that your dogs are mentally stimulated. Hiding treats in different corners of the house and asking the dog to find them is an easy way to do so. You can also enjoy a regular walk with your dog within the premises of your home.

  1. Buy Pet Accessories Or Toys

Be it a human or a pet, everyone loves to be treated with new accessories or toys. So, to show your love to your pet, purchase new toys or accessories from an online store. Gifting new leashes, collars and toys to your dog can be a fruitful way to make the dog happy and cheerful. Look for online stores that offer doorstep delivery and do not forget to clean the products’ packaging using a sanitizer.

  1. Prepare A First-Aid Kit

Stocking necessary medications, like intestinal deworming medicines, heartworm preventive medicines, and anti-flea/tick treatments are also a unique way to show your love to the pets. As stated above, pets are very intelligent; just the way, they can sense your stress, they can also sense the love and care when you provide them with the right treatment at the right time. So, during the present COVID-19 situation, if your pet feels like vomiting or any other issue, express your love with the right healthcare solutions. You can easily find food supplies and first-aid kits for pets online.

Your pet will be stress-free the moment you are stress-free. So, remember to pass on only positive and happy vibes to your loving buddy in the family
